THE PEARL FISHERS FARAWAY FANTASY WITH SPECTACULAR COLOR. Sail away to Sri Lanka for a hypnotic romance from the great Georges Bizet (Carmen). An alluring priestess with a mysterious past is pursued by a pair of fishermen who share a brotherly bond. Honor, jealousy, and communal duty complicate the love triangle; but a long-buried secret saves the day. Award-winning designer Zandra Rhodes (The Magic Flute) enhances the enchantment with vivid, fabulously colorful sets and costumes. Don’t miss this stunningly beautiful creation. Come enjoy this great play with Seattle Rotary #4 and enjoy a pre-theater reception with food, drinks, and a discussion about the opera. The Seattle Opera has been very generous in allowing us to join them in the Allen Room, normally exclusive to donors of $5,000 and more, before the opera. There will be soup and bread before the show and intermission nibbles. When: Friday, October 30, cocktails starting at 6:30 pm and opera starting at 7:30 pm What: Reception in the Allen Room and production of “The Pearl Fishers” Cost: $101/ticket and reception (special Rotary discount) Where: Seattle Opera (McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer Street, Seattle, WA)

Rotary Night at Seattle Rep - COME FROM AWAY THE STORY: Musical. Based on an inspiring true story. September 11, 2001 was an ordinary day in isolated Gander, Newfoundland—until it wasn’t. Thirty-eight planes were diverted to its doorstep on that fateful day, making this small town unexpected hosts to an international community. The camaraderie that followed reminds us all of the power that comes from opening up your heart and your home.

Join us for a fun and inspiring evening with Jerilyn Brusseau (aka CinnaMom for she is the original creator of Cinnabon)! We will be dining at one of her master chef friend's restaurants, Loulay, a posh tri-level fixture known for chef Thierry Rautureau’s creative spin on classic French cuisine. Guests are welcome to arrive between 5:30 - 6 p.m. to enjoy a drink or two and great conversation before we gather around the table to share a meal and futher discussion with Jerilyn. Please note that drinks are on your own, but your $52.50 ticket covers a salad, entrée, macaroons, gratuity, and tax - the generous pricing is in honor of Jerilyn’s longstanding friendship with Thierry Rautureau! Food and trees are Jerilyn Brusseau's instruments for peace. Brusseau -- the original creator of Cinnabon -- founded PeaceTable in 1986 to create shared culinary experiences between people of the United States and the former Soviet Republics as a tool for building cultural understanding. Less than a decade later, Brusseau co-founded PeaceTrees Vietnam, a project to foster cross-cultural friendship and healing with the people and the land of Vietnam. Her brother Daniel Cheney, a young helicopter pilot, was killed in the Vietnam War in 1969. The loss of her brother inspired the creation of PeaceTrees Vietnam in 1995. Her husband and PeaceTrees Co-Founder, Danaan Parry, died suddenly in 1996, as the first PeaceTrees citizen diplomacy team was preparing to leave the USA for Vietnam. Turning sorrow into service, Brusseau has tirelessly continued the work of PeaceTrees Vietnam for the last 15 years, earning many awards for this work, including International Humanitarian of the Year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the Broadway Edison Culinary Award by Seattle Central Community College. Jerilyn is a founding member of the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International, a member of Seattle Four Rotary Club, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Women's Center of the University of Washington. This is sure to be an ultra inspiring evening that you don't want to miss. See you there! Please reserve your spot ASAP: http://shindigg.com/Event/GlZWv19b
