Jon Hoekstra, Mountains to Sound Greenway
Online Program

Do you ever wonder how the I-90 corridor has stayed so green? The story of the Mountains to Sound Greenway is a vivid demonstration of the power of collaboration. Born of a shared vision and built by partnerships among the private, public and nonprofit sectors, the Mountains to Sound Greenway became the newest National Heritage Area in the country last year.  In addition to offering bountiful opportunities for people to connect with the natural world, the Greenway stands as a living example of how environmental stewardship and economic vitality can go hand-in-hand.

Our presenter, Jon Hoekstra, is Executive Director of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, and he is honored to share a presentation with Seattle Rotary on the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Jon is a conservation biologist who has dedicated his career to saving endangered species and preserving wild places around the world. Before joining the Greenway Trust, Jon served as Chief Scientist for the World Wildlife Fund and led multiple global science and strategy initiatives for The Nature Conservancy. Having had the privilege and opportunity to travel to amazing places all around the world, Jon can vouch that the Greenway landscape where we all live is truly world-class and worthy of our pride and investment.
