An Insider View on Saving the Hospitality Industry

On Wednesday, June 10th we'll hear from Chad Mackay, CEO of Fire & Vine Hospitality, on the current state of Washington's hospitality and restaurant industries. How has COVID-19 impacted them already, and what's next?
Since joining El Gaucho and his father and founder, Paul Mackay, in 2003, the two worked together to build a special place for people to celebrate their lives. Over the years, Chad developed strategic direction to promote continual growth, and in July 2017 announced the evolution to Fire & Vine Hospitality. The operating company manages the El Gaucho family of restaurants and the Inn at El Gaucho, an operating partnership with Chef Jason Wilson’s restaurants. As a dedicated member of the Seattle community, Chad is active in the Washington State Hospitality Association and Visit Seattle. Previously, he served on the Washington State Tourism Advisory Committee, the Washington State Tourism Commission, and the Seattle Sports Commission.

Meet New Member DeWitt Jensen

It is my honor to introduce our newest member, DeWitt Jensen.  DeWitt’s classification is Engineering. He has been nominated by Einer Handeland and Ken Colling.
DeWitt was born and raised in Seattle, and it is here where his passion for the water and boating was nurtured.  His family founded Jensen Motor Boat Company in 1926 and manufactured over 250 wooden boats and repaired thousands of others over nearly a century of operations.  It was in that environment that DeWitt developed his own love of boating and wooden boats in particular.  In 1967, he and his father acquired Spencer’s Landing Marina on Lopez Island, and more than 50 years later he is president and owner.
