Looking Forward: Vaccines and the Light at the End of the Pandemic Tunnel
Now that everyone 16 and older in Washington state is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, a new goal has been set for administering 90,000 vaccines per day, doubling the original target. While distribution progress has happened faster than anticipated, there are still concerns. Demand for the vaccine has softened in some areas of the state, struggles continue to ensure equitable vaccine administration in some groups, and worries of a fourth wave linger. Washington state’s health secretary, Dr. Umair Shah, will provide an update on gaining ground in the pandemic and what lies ahead at the end of this tunnel.
Harvest against Hunger Executive Director and fellow Seattle 4 Rotarian, David Bobanick, shared exciting news about their Farm to Community Program.
Jon Scholes, CEO, and President of the Downtown Seattle Association gave a brief update on the state of downtown. More details can be viewed by clicking here.
Impact starts with our members — people like you who see a world where people unite, and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Unless protests are received in the time period required (seven days), the following will receive a "Welcome to Rotary" notification that their membership has been accepted:

The Community Service Committee invites you to join us onSaturday, May 22, from9:00 – 11:30to sort clothing and build storage racks at Wellspring Family Services.
During the pandemic, many families cleaned houses resulting in record levels of donations. Without a volunteer group to process them, Wellspring has a backlog of clothing that needs to be sorted.
In addition, our Seattle Rotary Service Foundation provided Wellspring with a grant to install new shelving in the storage area at the store to make storing donations much easier. We need your help to set the racks up and fill them with clean, folded clothing in new, clearly labeled, plastic bins.
Click below to register and pick the option forRotary Service Day on May 22. If you have problems with your registration, you can email Saidah McKissick at smckissick@wellspringfs.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
