The Future of Public Broadcasting

Public media is at a crossroads. Join three local leaders — Rob Dunlop (Cascade PBS), David Fischer (KNKX), and Tina Pamintuan (KUOW) — for a candid conversation about the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of mission-driven media produced in the public interest. The panel will include an open Q&A — bring your questions.

Our club frequently hosted dances in its early years-check out this dance card from a 1913 club event! All the dances of the day allowed, but please “no rag”!

New Honorary Members

During this month's board meeting a motion was passed to make club members in good standing honorary members once they reach the milestone of 90 years of age.

With this motion, we have added four new honorary club members: Laurel James, Lou Lundquist, Don Root, and John Durbin. Other current club members with honorary status at 90+ are Neil McReynolds and John Ellis.

Thank you for your years of service to the club!

Club member Charmaine Vazquez was seeing Rotary all over during her recent travels in South America! The picture on the left is from San Salvador and the picture on the right is from Guatemala.

Our club continues to support international grants in South America. Can you remember any memorable projects from these regions?

Support Your Club Bowling Team, Gutter Ballers Unite!

Your fellow club members will be fundraising until November 3 for this year's Hunger Strike benefitting Rotary District 5030 community partner Harvest Against Hunger!

If you want to make a donation in support of our team, please CLICK HERE. We will announce our team's bowling location once identified and hope you join us on November 3!

Education Group Update

Our Education  Interest Group (the former Education Committee) had our monthly meeting and wanted all our club membership to be aware of the importance of the upcoming election, knowing that most of the attention will be on the mayor's and council race.  Also on the ballot is renewal of the important Families and Education Levy where the city provides extra support to the Seattle Public Schools.  In addition there are four open school board positions - - extremely important given the choice and shepherding  of a new superintendent.  It behooves all our members to check out who is running for office through the non-profit reporting of the Education Lab at the Seattle Times:

Should any of our members have concerns or questions, feel free to let our group know.

SRSF Spotlight

Last Tuesday, October 21 Rotarians and friends from around the area gathered at the Gates Foundation Discovery Center for World Polio Day 2025. The Seattle Rotary Service Foundation and the Gates Foundation have worked alongside each other for decades supporting polio and malaria eradication efforts globally.

Thanks to Jeff Borek for the pictures!

Financially supporting our foundations is an important way to make an impact through your Rotary membership.
