Rectifying Wrongful Convictions by Judge Michael Heavey (Ret.)

Judges for Justice (JFJ) has been key in helping four innocent men in three states (Idaho, Hawaii, Ohio) obtain their freedom. Judge Heavey, CEO of JFJ, explains how unethical conduct, called "noble cause corruption," is why wrongful convictions happen; how Judges for Justice uses good will and truth in helping to rectify these injustices.

Meeting Report for October 4, 2023

Virginia began by commemorating the 2-year anniversary since the launching of the Rotary Club of the PNW Ending Sex Trafficking sponsored by Seattle 4 Rotary. As the charter president of this single cause club, Virginia shared highlights of projects and accomplishments which include:

  • Affixing stickers with the national trafficking hotline to hotel soaps during the Super Bowl.
  • Picking up litter with We Heart Seattle.
  • Assembled comfort kits for REST, which serves survivors of sex trafficking, and cleaned their van.
  • Planted flowers at REST House North with participation of 20 volunteers from 6 different clubs.
  • And many more.

There will be no Wednesday meeting on October 11th.

Instead, we will have a SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE Event on October 10th from 5:30-7pm at the Renaissance Hotel at 515 6th Avenue.

If you drive, there is a special Rotary rate of $10 in the Renaissance parking garage on Madison just west of 6th Avenue.   Our event will be on the main floor of the hotel, with visible signage from the lobby area on the southwest corner of the main floor (visible from the bar area).

There will be complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.  We will have a chance to meet with Seattle 4 Rotarians and learn about some of the ways that Seattle 4 members have plugged into service that has been fun and fulfilling.   President Nancy will provide more information at the Meeting on September 20th.
