Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) is a service of the Seattle Fire Department alongside firefighting, rescue and EMS that provides enhanced services to frequent 911 callers, highly complex patients, persons with non-emergent medical complaints and those with social needs. The MIH program aims to reduce the burden of these responses from our Operations division to improve their readiness and availability, while providing exceptional care to needy and vulnerable people in Seattle. Our work encompasses the Health One response team, the Vulnerable Adult reporting program and client case management, all in partnership with the Seattle Human Services Department.
Jonelle Johnson introduced Dr Quinton Morris, Professor of Violin at Seattle University and founder of the music education organization Key to Change – a program aimed at supporting young musicians of color and low-income individuals.
She described in detail his worldwide body of work, multiple awards, and international recognition. She provided an overview of his multifaceted career as a concert violinist, educator, filmmaker, and entrepreneur.
“Key to Change empowers a new generation of student musicians and leaders. We teach students how to do hard things. The violin is just the vehicle to the bigger picture of presenting your work in front of a live audience,” he said.
Dr. Morris introduced one of the more than 2,000 student musicians in Key to Change, who performed a 5-minute violin solo – followed by a standing ovation!

Service committee chairs and stakeholders met Thursday night at the house of Jan Levy to discuss the findings from our recent club survey and ways to reimagine how our club approaches committees and committee participation. It was refreshing to meet in a small group in a cozy setting, made even more impactful by the conversations happening between members. Thanks to all that attended and participated (and helped Jan clean up the red wine!).
We look forward to sharing some initial survey findings with you during next week's Zoom only meeting. Make sure you are online February 26 for this special report!
