Visualize No Malaria: A Partnership to Eliminate Malaria with Elaine Gibbons and Neal Myrick
December 11th at Noon
The Westin, 1900 5th Avenue
Malaria exists in 103 countries worldwide, affecting 3.3. billion people, but about 90% of malaria-related deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa. The majority of those affected are children under the age of five. In the US, about 1,500 cases of malaria are found every year. PATH is a nonprofit creating vaccines, finding treatments, inventing faster diagnostic tools, piloting new approaches, and putting data to work in completely new ways to prevent and stop outbreaks of malaria. We will hear from Elaine Gibbons, Vice President of Global Engagement and Communications with PATH, as well as Neal Myrick, Global Head of Tableau Foundation, as they discuss lessons learned from their collaboration to address and help eliminate one of the world’s deadliest diseases.
The annual Seattle 4 Rotary Holiday Party is just around the corner! We hope you’ll join your fellow Rotarians and their families for this festive occasion. Doors open at 11:00 am for cocktails and caroling with the Rotary Rogues, followed by an entertaining program by the makers of Teatro Zinzanni from 12:30-1:00 pm.
Guest tickets must be purchased in advance - click below to learn more and get yours today.
The Community Service Committee is hosting a toy drive to benefit children escaping homelessness, and it’s easier than ever to participate. Just grab a tag from the giving tree on your table during Rotary next week or click the link below. Select the gift you’d like to give, include your name in the gift receipt (so we know where to send a thank you!), and it will be shipped directly to Wellspring Family Services. Within days, your gift will be wrapped and in the hands of a curious child from Wellspring or its partner agencies, ready to be opened! Thank you!!
President Kim called the Seattle #4 Rotary Club to order at 12:30 p.m. on December 4, 2019 at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle. Heather Fitzpatrick, CEO of Wellspring Family Services urged Rotarians to give what they could for families experiencing emergencies particularly at this time of year. There was a Giving Tree at each table.
At this week’s luncheon, Governance Committee Chair, Ken Colling, presented the new club officers, board members, and foundation trustees who will serve beginning July 1, 2020.

As Rotarians, we are leaders connecting for extraordinary good –both in our community and around the world. Together we are eradicating polio and malaria, bringing fresh water to rural villages worldwide to stop the spread of disease, and helping our neighbors in need with housing, healthy foods, and educational opportunities.
Once a year we ask you to fulfill your membership obligations and take action by making two gifts that will transform our world. One is to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF). The other is to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Thank you for taking action now to help our club have a powerful and positive impact on our world.
