SUPPORT OUR ROTARY FOUNDATIONS FOR A YEAR OF ACTION AND IMPACT!
As Rotarians, we are leaders connecting for extraordinary good –both in our community and around the world. Together we are eradicating polio and malaria, bringing fresh water to rural villages worldwide to stop the spread of disease, and helping our neighbors in need with housing, healthy foods, and educational opportunities.
Once a year we ask you to fulfill your membership obligations and take action by making two gifts that will impact the world. One is to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF). The other is to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Thank you for taking action now to help our club have a powerful and positive impact on our world.
Do you have a friend, co-worker, or acquaintance who you think would enjoy Rotary membership?

Marilyn strickland: Taking Action for an inclusive economy
February 27 at Noon
The Westin, 1900 5th Ave.
Founded in 1882, The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is the largest and most diverse business organization in our region, representing 2,400 companies and a workforce of approximately 750,000. Former Tacoma Mayor, Marilyn Strickland, its new CEO, is only the second woman to hold the role, and the first person of color.
Marilyn is a champion of diversity and inclusion. She leads the Chamber as a community partner for projects, initiatives, and people who make our region globally competitive as well as a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
NEW! Guests, visiting Rotarians, and members who are not on the meal plan can now purchase their lunch in advance. Online sales end the Friday before each luncheon.
If you miss the cutoff, guests can still register by contacting Mariah at mariah@seattlerotary.org.
Members are still welcome to purchase their lunch at the door.
If you plan to bring a prospective member as a guest, please contact Caroline at caroline@seattlerotary.org.
President Cindy Runger rang the bell and asked the members to share the name of their school mascot with someone whom they had not met before in the club. She then introduced Don Murphy and Marli Iversen who led the attendees in a rousing rendition of the National Anthem.
Father Stephen Sundborg provided the inspiration of the day, asking us to pray for the students who need help in getting their education because that support benefits the public good. He remarked that commitment goes a long way in helping those students be successful. He also asked that we pray for the leaders in our educational institutions to continue with their vision of creating strong learning communities.
I have the pleasure of introducing to you our newest member, Dan Varghese, classification Technology. He was proposed by Jaime Mendez and seconded by Alan Kunovsky, both of whom we thank. Dan is joined here today by his partner, Theia. They have a seven-month-old son Elijah and live in Bellevue.
