Scott Lindsay: SYSTEM FAILURE AND OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
August 28 at Noon
Hyatt Olive 8, 1635 8th Avenue
Scott Lindsay, author of System Failure -- Report on Prolific Offenders in Seattle's Criminal Justice System, founded Seattle’s Navigation Team and has worked on issues at the intersection of public safety, homelessness, and addiction for the past five years. Scott is an attorney and has previously served as the public safety adviser to the City of Seattle and senior national security counsel to the House Oversight Committee. He will give us insights into what’s happening in our criminal justice system, why it’s not working, and some ideas about how we can make effective changes.
Last week, Seattle 4 Rotary was proud to host Jeff Robinson who delivered a powerful chronicle of racism in America starting with our country's inception in the 1600s. Special thanks to our Peacebuilders Committee, event volunteers, and nearly 600 attendees!! Check out photos from this special program at Town Hall on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/seattlerotary4/.
If you would like to learn more about Jeff Robinson and his forthcoming documentary, please visit his Who We Are project website at:https://thewhoweareproject.org/.
Like many of us, the life of Marsha Mutisi is defined by a mix of circumstance, luck, adventurism, and selflessness.
Her grandfather served as a United Methodist minister in what was the country of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Her father ran sales at Zimbabwe’s largest grain milling company, and her mom, events for the region’s leading advertising firm.
Charles Finkel has generously shared with us the transcript of his full Rotary presentation featuring his amazing career which led to the founding of Pike Brewing Company. Check it out by clicking Read More below.
Join the Peacebuilders and International Service committees as they welcome Jasper Peet-Martel, a Rotary Peace Fellow at Uppsala University, Sweden, who will share photos and stories of his recent work in Myanmar and the Sahel region where he focused on peace building, mediation and countering violent extremism.
6:30pm @ FareStart Restaurant, 700 Virginia Street
Join us for dinner at Farestart to support our Rotary volunteer waiters and Farestart. We have a group of eight Rotary members who will be thrilled to serve you a meal prepared by celebrity guest chef - Melissa Miranda - owner of Musang, a Filipino Pop Up Restaurant, with a brick and mortar of the same name opening in Beacon Hill this October.

The unexpected passing of Steve Crane, District 5030's tireless champion of polio and malaria eradication, saddened our entire Rotary community. In honor of Steve's selfless efforts, the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation has established the Steve Crane Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund will provide financial assistance to one or more Rotaractors each year to attend either our District Conference, the Rotary International Conference, or a conference related to global health.
If you would you like to support this scholarship fund in Steve's memory, send your tax-deductible contribution to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation, 1326 5th Avenue, Suite 342, Seattle, WA 98101 and write "Steve Crane Fund" in the check's memo line. Inquiries can be made to Jeff Pritchard.
Celebrate and support your fellow Rotarians during good and difficult times. Share news of kudos, awards, illness or loss with the Rotary Cares Committee (co-chaired by Fedva Dikmen & Jane Tornatore) — our group is dedicated to supporting and celebrating Seattle #4 members. Click here to contact the committee and share your news!
The Puget Sound Rotary Network is a great resource for Rotarians to share their business with others and learn about products and services offered by other Rotarians in the region.
