Socialize at Noon!
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Plymouth Church
Jeff Robinson, The Who We Are Project
Even before current attempts to ban so-called "DEI," "Critical Race Theory," and the teaching of true history, we had been told an incomplete story of our nation. Through compelling media, Jeffery Robinson, CEO of The Who We Are Project, challenges the dominant narrative of our nation’s founding, demonstrating how anti-Black racism was and remains a central part of U.S. history, and promoting education, discourse, healing, and change.

Club members gathered this past Saturday night to prepare an evening meal for 130 individuals at Operation Nightwatch, one of our three Large Local Impact Grant Finalists! Sarah Weaver has been volunteering at Operation Nightwatch the past few months and encouraged a few club friends to attend. Participating in "service above self" is a great reminder why we are all here as Rotarians!
Club member Tabitha Claus welcomed a new future Rotarian on April 2-Lincoln Kenneth Claus!
President Jon welcomed everyone to our meeting at the Plymouth Congregation Church. Neil McReynolds remembering our longtime member (he joined in 1977) and past club president, Ralph Munro. He reflected on Ralph’s life, work in politics (five-term Secretary of State) and service to the community especially as a Rotarian (he was passionate about polio eradication and made numerous trips to Africa) and as a member of our club.
Linda Rough provided an interesting background on the origin and popularity of “Let There Be Peace on Earth” before leading us in singing it accompanied by Freeman Fong on the piano.
John Steckler presented our Member Spotlight highlighting the life of our member, Sue McNab: 70 year Girl Scout, world sailor, diver, and a leader in business and local government. John mentioned that Sue believes that retirement is a time to repurpose and to keep growing.
The Future of Museums
President Jon introduced our guest speaker, Scott Stulen, the new Illsley Ball Nordstrom Director/CEO of the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) who moved here last summer from Tulsa. He brings a rare background to running a museum as a visual and studio artist. Scott shared his very unique and creative way to get people who would not normally visit or join a museum to get engaged, including several examples of events and exhibits (including an event attended by 13,000 people watching homemade cat videos) that he has implemented with great success at previous museums in Minneapolis and Tulsa.
Rotary International Spring Peace Week Online Presentation
Join us for an inspiring conversation with Rotary Peace Fellow Arthur Romano and Baltimore Peace Camp founder Nawal Rajeh as they discuss their groundbreaking initiative, Building Bridges for Peace, an innovative urban peacebuilding program being piloted around the world. As leaders in conflict resolution and community-driven peace efforts, Arthur and Nawal will share insights into the Carter School Urban Peacebuilding program, the powerful role of Rotarians in violence prevention, and how this pilot project is laying the foundation for a scalable, city-wide peace network. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how collaboration, education, and action are creating safer, more resilient communities—starting in Baltimore and expanding beyond!
