PARKING INFORMATION
 
For those who drive to our weekly luncheons, here is some information about available parking options:
 
The Westin - for self-park or valet, obtain coupon at meeting registration for a discounted rate of $14.
 
Pacific Place is another good option only a couple blocks from most of our venues. The cost is $12 for up to 3 hours. The garage is accessed from either 6th or 7th  between Pine and Olive.
 
The Sheraton, Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Olive 8 do not offer discounted parking.

The 4th Annual Seattle Fire Department Awards Program

May 15 at Noon
The Westin, 1900 5th Ave.
 

Once again we will join Seattle’s firefighters and their families to celebrate another year of heroic achievements and exemplary service to our community.  President Cindy will ring us in and Harold Scoggins, Seattle Fire Chief and Seattle 4 member, will host the award ceremony.  Our own Past President and KING 5 Anchor, Mark Wright, will emcee the event along with Seattle Fire Deputy Chief Tom Walsh.

Please note this program will begin promptly at 12:00 pm, 30 minutes earlier than our usual luncheons.

Guests, visiting Rotarians, and members who are not on the meal plan can now purchase their lunch in advance. Online sales end the Friday before each luncheon.
 
If you miss the cutoff, guests can still register by contacting Mariah at mariah@seattlerotary.org
Members are still welcome to purchase their lunch at the door.

Denise Juneau Brings Passion and Laser Beam Focus to Improving Seattle Public Schools

Spend a Saturday morning with your fellow Rotarians by helping families experiencing homelessness at Wellspring Family Services.
 
Your morning will be spent helping to sort donations for Wellspring’s Baby Boutique, a free clothing store for families facing homelessness.

Save the date for the Pinkham & Skeel Reception at the Seattle Yacht Club on June 18.  If you contributed to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation at the $1,000+ level, you will receive a personal invitation to this reception very soon!  New this year, each committee will be spotlighting one of their successful projects from the 2018-19 Rotary year.  This reception will be an opportunity for you to interact directly with beneficiaries of our service grants.  It will be very special for all who attend. recognize President Cindy for her leadership and insightful end-of-meeting proverbs. 

In Memoriam

This week we lost beloved WWII veteran, Seattle businessman, and 48-year Seattle Rotary member Jerry Costacos. He passed away this Wednesday at the age of 92.  Jerry was featured in our 2018 Veteran's Day video, which you can watch here. No services have yet been announced. We will have a moment of remembrance for Jerry at our May 22 luncheon.

2019 DISTRICT CONFERENCE

 
Seattle Rotarians attending the conference are invited to join Seattle City Rotaract for a social during the Saturday afternoon break from 3:00-5:30 pm.  Event details have been emailed to attendees we know of - if you did not receive an email, please contact Mariah for more information.
