SUPPORT OUR ROTARY FOUNDATIONS FOR A YEAR OF ACTION AND IMPACT!
As Rotarians, we are leaders connecting for extraordinary good –both in our community and around the world. Together we are eradicating polio and malaria, bringing fresh water to rural villages worldwide to stop the spread of disease, and helping our neighbors in need with housing, healthy foods, and educational opportunities.
Once a year we ask you to fulfill your membership obligations and take action by making two gifts that will impact the world. One is to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF). The other is to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Thank you for taking action now to help our club have a powerful and positive impact on our world.
Do you have a friend, co-worker, or acquaintance who you think would enjoy Rotary membership?

Admiral Bill Owens,
The US and China in 2039
April 24 at Noon
The Grand Hyatt, 721 Pine St.
In 2039, China will most likely have a larger GDP than the United States. And it may not be the only country with that distinction. What will that mean for the balance of economic and military power in the world? What will it mean for us?
Retired Admiral Bill Owens, former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, decorated war veteran, and renowned business executive, is currently co-authoring a book on this subject and will share his unique views and valuable insight. Admiral Owens is a futurist known for his strategic and visionary approaches to world events. His leadership in the pivotal decade following the Cold War contributed directly to much of what today’s military does well.

Our President-Elect, Kim Moore, introduced our main program and our member Heather Fitzpatrick, CEO of Wellspring Family Services, who led a discussion of family homelessness. She was joined by her colleagues at Wellspring; Derek Taylor, Walter Washington, and Bevette Irvis.
Heather reminded us that ten years ago our club celebrated its 100th Anniversary and as part of our centennial project built the Rotary Support Center for Families. Wellspring provides children education and counseling services in an effort to try to avoid the problems that come with homelessness and break the cycle of family homelessness. Wellspring's Rotary Support Center for Families “works with adults to find and retain housing and works with children to succeed.”
They say if you love someone, set them free. If they love you, they will return to you. If they don’t, well, they are stupid!
Standing next to me today is a very, very smart man. It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to our newest returning Rotarian, Bill Hammond, who rejoins us today under the classification of Health Care.
