Panel Discussion with Leesa Manion & Ann Davison Hosted by Mark Wright
Our own Mark Wright will host a panel discussion. Our panelists include King County Prosecuting Attorney, Leesa Manion and Seattle City Attorney, Ann Davison.
Citywide Seattle City Council Member, Sara Nelson (Position #9), is a self-proclaimed policy wonk who told Rotarians on Wednesday how she thought her decade’s long work on the staff of past council member, Richard Conlin, would prepare her for a for a position on the Seattle City Council. “As a newly elected citywide city council member, I came to the job with hope and ideas for the future of Seattle, “ she said. “My inbox soon filled with emails about crime in neighborhoods and related impacts on small business. I toured several areas of the city, contacting many impacted small business owners.” She organized a small business roundtable to sort out the issues, that resulted in a fund to help repair storefront damage.
Don Kraft was truly a Rotary Icon. He first joined University District Rotary where his father Warren was President and a Past District Governor and brother Ken was also President. But Seattle Rotary called to him and he joined our club on November 17, 1954.
In total, Don was a Rotarian for over 74 years. This one-of-a-kind Rotarian had over 70 years perfect attendance! He was an extremely active Rotarian participating in hundreds of meetings, chairing many committees and loved to mentor new Rotarians.
When honored by his UW Alma Mater, Don said that each (of his volunteer efforts) had its own compensation. "And I wouldn't have done them all if they hadn't been fun. The longer your commitment is and the more involved you are, the more rewarding it becomes. When you total it all up, the time you spend is priceless."
Don's family is currently planning his Memorial Service. They will let us know the date and place as soon as they are able.
