Last year we walked south - and this year we will meet Ivar's Acres of Clams on Pier 54 and walk north.

Celebrating PeaceTrees Vietnam 30th Anniversary with Founder Jerilyn Brusseau and  Executive Director Claire Yunker

Making the impossible-possible        

President Jon called the Seattle Rotary Club #4 meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025,  at the Plymouth Church in downtown Seattle.

The Song of the Day: Imagine-by John Lennon.

 

President Jon and other Rotarians made announcements with respect to Rotary Club Activities.

He reported that Rotary Club meetings will be moving to the Washington Athletic Club in June.

Guests of the Rotary Club were introduced, which included people associated with Peacetrees.

John Steckler introduced the newest Rotarian, Nathaniel Meyer, followed by Mark Wright who introduced the guest speakers for today’s program.  

Jerilyn Brusseau highlighted the 30 year history of Peacetrees work in clearing land mines and unexploded bombs that were left in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

She spoke about the organization’s impact that Included providing 335 scholarships for Vietnam children.

Jerilyn emphasized her personal journey and how she turned pain into a gift for others in Vietnam.

She recounted the tragic loss of her brother who was killed in Vietnam on January 6, 1969.

She also mentioned how supportive former Secretary of State Ralph Munro and Governor Dan Evans were to the cause.

Pinkham & Skeel and President's Circle Reception
 
This reception will recognize our member donors for their generosity in giving this Rotary year. To join the Pinkham & Skeel Circle of Service, the minimum donation is $1,000. To join the President's Circle, the minimum donation is $2,500.
 
Jim Pinkham and Ernst "Ernie" Skeel were key figures in the early development of the Rotary movement. Pinkham, a lumber wholesaler, and Skeel, a lawyer, were both founding members of the Seattle Rotary Club. Skeel played a crucial role in drafting Rotary's first constitution and emphasized the importance of giving back to society. Pinkham later became Rotary Seattle's third president in 1911.

Wellspring Family Services Volunteer Paint Party

Join us for a fun and meaningful morning as we give the Wellspring lobby a fresh new look with a couple of coats of paint. Your time and talent will help us create a welcoming space for the families we serve!

· Clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on (work pants, shirts, closed-toe shoes)

· Optional apron or smock for extra coverage

· Hair tied back or under a cap

What to Expect:

· Standing and light physical activity for 3 hours

· Ladder use may be needed (comfort with ladders is a plus!)

· All painting supplies provided, including disposable gloves and face masks

· Wellspring will provide snacks and beverages

District 5030 End of Year Celebration

YOU’RE INVITED to join President Jon, our club’s leaders, and Rotarians around our region to celebrate the 2024-2025 Rotary year

on Monday evening, June 16th at the SeaTac Doubletree Hotel

The highlight of this year-end District celebration will be the formal “Passing of the Home Club of the District Governor banner” to our club! All the Seattle Rotarians in attendance are invited to the front of the ballroom to stand with District Governor-elect Jeff Borek as he accepts the District Governor banner from the outgoing District Governor. This ceremony officially designates Seattle Rotary as the “Home Club of the District Governor” for the 2025-2026 Rotary year! 🌟  The reception/dinner/program runs 5:30PM-8:30PM and is $100 per person. The dress is festive casual.

Music4Life is a non-profit and project of Rotary District 5030 that distributes musical instruments to public school students in need. 

We welcome any gently used musical instruments you wish to donate. They can be delivered directly to these local music stores that are now open: American Music in  Phinney  Ridge and Kennelly Keys Music in Bellevue, Lynnwood, and Everett.
