President Jon's Four Cs: CONVENING, CONNECTING, COOPERATING, and COMMUNICATING!

Next Zoom Only Lunch Meeting

Wednesday, March 26
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Zoom Only

David Domke, Common Power

David Domke is a senior leader of Common Power, a Seattle-based national organization committed to voting justice and democracy in America. They focus on education, next-generation leadership development, and mobilizing voters in elections. In his remarks he will discuss the constitutional clash that has arrived: The Trump Administration's Executive Orders vs. Judicial Branch Authority.

Representative Marilyn Strickland

President Jon called the Seattle Rotary Club #4 meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. on March 19, 2025, at the Motif Hotel in downtown Seattle

Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland from Washington’s 10th District, which covers parts of Pierce and Thurston Counties was the major speaker.

She is the first African-American/Korean woman to represent Washington state at the federal level.

President Jon introduced Congresswoman Strickland. He has been a friend of hers for over 30 years that includes her time

as Mayor of Tacoma and CEO of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

Congresswoman Strickland made opening remarks followed by a Q&A session with President Jon and then answered questions from Rotarians.

Congresswoman Strickland said in her opening remarks that there are major goals she tries to adhere to.

  • Seek common ground to solve problems.
  • Always be mindful of the people who sent you to Congress in the first place.

She said that Elon Musk is using a chain saw on cutting government programs rather than a scalpel.

She acknowledged that many people are frustrated with Democrats. She said that many Democrats are fearful and angry.

On another subject, she cited a housing shortage in Washington state with citizens and the military. 70% of military families live outside the Fort Lewis post. Affordable housing is a must.
