The Power of Asian American Vote

Panel featuring Moderator Assunta Ng and Panelists Secretary of State Steve Hobbs, King County Prosecutor Leesa Manion, Former Seattle City Council Member David Della, and Seattle Mariners VP of People and Culture, Katherine Cheng

Why do Asian American voices count? Though Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are one of U.S. fastest-growing minorities and have been successful in many fields including Hollywood lately, most would have overlooked the rise of Asian Americans in political power. Here is a distinguished panel which explains the new and complex trends and dynamics of the forces at play in the Asian community.

Special Short Program

22 of our fellow Rotarians from Sequim Sunrise Rotary will be joining us along with 20 of their Interact Club students to share the incredible story about how they caught the attention of George Clooney – the director of the soon to be released ‘Boys in the Boat’ - for a movie premier at their high school.

We’ll walk the waterfront from Waterfront Park south of Colman Dock, the Washington Street boat landing, under the new Marion Street pedestrian bridge, along the central waterfront, look at the new Union Street steps and art, walk by the aquarium’s new Ocean Pavilion, and conclude at new Pier 62.

Your tour guide will be the only one of the original 24 stakeholders on the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Committee who still walks the project every day.

Let’s meet at the Washington Street Landing (photo attached to this event listing) to save time.
