Common Purpose: Community Building & Democracy

David Domke is a professor in the Department of Communications at the University of Washington and the Founder and Director of Common Purpose, an organization that works to foster, support, and amplify a democracy that is just and inclusive with a focus on voter mobilization and community building.  He is the author of two books including God Willing?: Political Fundamentalism in the White House, the ‘War on Terror’ and the Echoing Press and The God Strategy: How Religion Became A Political Weapon in America. For the past dozen-plus years, Domke has spoken about politics and communication with political, media, public audiences, organizations, and campaigns around the country. He is committed to inter-racial and inter-generational community building and was one of a group of community members who created civil rights pilgrimages to the US South in 2014, which has grown into non-profit Project Pilgrimage.
