A Focus on Six Decades of Leadership and Service

Daniel J. Evans served as the 16th Governor of the State of Washington for three terms from 1965-1977. He served as the second President of the Evergreen State College from 1977-1983.  In 1983 Governor Evans was appointed to the US Senate where he served from 1983-1988.

Before entering politics Dan Evans earned BA and Ma degrees at UW where he became a civil engineer,  practicing in both the public and private sectors.  The Graduate School of Public Affairs at UW was renamed the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance in honor of Governor Evans in 1989.  Governor Evans ranks as one of the most distinguished leaders in the history of the State of Washington, with a life of commitment to public service, with outstanding leadership in governance, education, and the environment, to name a few.
