Horizon Air President & CEO Andy Schneider
“Our culture of care and belonging isn’t just words on a wall—it’s how we make decisions and how our teams show up for each other and our guests every day.” — Horizon Air CEO Andy Schneider
Rotary members will have the opportunity to hear from one of the Northwest’s most experienced aviation leaders at our upcoming luncheon when Horizon Air President and CEO Andy Schneider joins us for a conversation about leadership, regional aviation, and the future of air travel.
Schneider leads Horizon Air, the regional subsidiary of Alaska Air Group that connects communities across the western United States and feeds passengers into Alaska Airlines’ growing global network. Horizon plays a critical role linking smaller markets to major destinations, helping drive economic development and mobility throughout the region.
A 35-year veteran of the Alaska Airlines family, Schneider began her career in financial accounting in 1989 and steadily rose through the organization in roles spanning operations, customer experience, and human resources. Before becoming CEO of Horizon Air, she served as Senior Vice President of People for Alaska Airlines, helping shape the culture and employee experience for more than 30,000 employees across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.
Over the course of her career, Schneider has helped guide the airline industry through some of its most challenging periods—from the aftermath of 9/11 to the COVID-19 pandemic and major airline mergers. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes safety, communication, and a strong values-driven culture—principles that resonate deeply with Rotary’s commitment to service and ethical leadership.
Schneider is a graduate of Gonzaga University and the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business Executive MBA program.
In conversation with Past President Mark Wright, Schneider will discuss the evolving landscape of regional aviation, how airlines are adapting to changing customer expectations and technology, and the essential role regional carriers play in connecting communities across the West.
This promises to be an engaging and insightful program you won’t want to miss.
You never know what you will get in the Rotary mail! This week we received a package from a gentleman who worked with us on a special Y2K program. Check out the lyrics to this spoof song that was performed during what was likely our first meeting back from holiday break in 2000.
We still love our spoof songs-especially when it comes to honoring our outgoing presidents thanks to performances by our Rotary Rogues!
The Local & International Service Committees are inviting all interested members of the Rotary Club of Seattle to help review grant applications. Contact Jevon Powell at jevon@scontrino-powell.com if interested in volunteering for local service review and Maddy Vonhoff at maddy.vonhoff@gmail.com if interested in volunteering for international service review.

Rotary Boys and Girls Club Annual Clean Up Day
Our club established what is now known as the Rotary Boys and Girls Club in the basement of Plymouth Church 1944. The club grew so popular they moved to their own standalone building in 1954, a building funded by member donation dollars and used to this day.
Each year we return in service for an annual clean-up day, tackling tasks such as landscape improvements, kitchen clean outs, painting, and organizing. There is a role for everyone; we hope you “save the date” and join us!
Our club members will enjoy exclusive access to the new Cascade PBS headquarters for this special "end of Rotary year" evening event. The evening will feature tours, presentations, and plenty of time to socialize in Cascade's special indoor/outdoor welcoming center space.

We love to see our Rotary members promoting good works in our community and abroad!
