George Harris, NW Marine Trade Organization and Matt Von Ruden, Washington State Ferries
The Seattle Boat Show sails into town on February 2nd. The demographics of boaters are changing rapidly and so is the workforce that is vital for the $8 billion Washington state recreational boating and fishing economy. George will share highlights of Core Plus Maritime, a Washington based high school curriculum in 26 high schools across the state that prepares students for careers in the maritime industry during his short program.
Matt Von Ruden of the Washington State Ferry System will be our featured long program speaker. He will be discussing his work converting our state ferries to an all-electric fleet.
Member Nicole Klein took time out of her day recently to answer the call from Bloodworks NW and give blood during their winter appeal. If you plan on making a donation at Bloodworks NW soon, please make sure to tell them you are with District 5030 Rotary so our organization is credited.
Our January evening member event took place on Wednesday, January 10 at First Interstate Bank in the Two Union Square building in downtown Seattle. Club members, prospective members, and other guests enjoyed social time and a presentation on the great wealth exchange, the anticipated multi-trillion dollar shift of wealth from aging boomer parents to their millenial offspring. Thanks to club member Jenn Gladish and her team at First Interstate Bank for hosting this well-received event!

The New Year is well underway along with our 2023-2024 SRSF Campaign. With only 7 weeks remaining, we are at 52% of our goal. We know we can get to the amount that will allow our Service Committees to continue to have an impact in the world.
Don’t forget that the Large Grant Applications are due by January 18th. This is one of the largest gifts that your SRSF will make in several years. $100,000!!! We will have the 3 Finalists presentations to our club members on February 15th. More info to come. Save this Date to come be part of something BIG!

The Rotary Club of Seattle is excited to offer this volunteer opportunity as a Marshall for the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship! Our club has committed to providing 15 volunteers for Hole 11. The deadline for registration for this event in June is February 26; please see below for registration information:
